This tools is designed for use in flush setting stones. In developing the techniques Connie Fox and I documented in the “Flush Setting Tutorial” (For sale on this website
), we used a variety of tools to push the stone in place: a cut off toothbrush handle, a piece of hardwood, and finally a block of delrin. The block of delrin proved to be the easiest to use and the most reliable with less damage to the stone than some other things we tried. After I made several sets of the punches for students, I got Gil (Twin Oaks Engineering) to make them for me! Now he offers them to you.
: This sale is for one of the punches pictured (the punches are identical) - one tool should last through years of use. The end can be refined if it does get deformed by sanding it lightly -- be SURE to keep it flat (put the sand paper on a flat surface, hold the punch upright and sand evenly in a figure-8 motion).
